A Broken Bottom Pivot Repair

After a thorough inspection or the aluminium door, we identified several key issues, including a defective transom closer at the top of the door and a broken bottom pivot mechanism. These issues compromised both the door’s functionality and its fire regulation compliance.

The Solution: Comprehensive Repair and Upgrades
To resolve the problems and ensure the door was safe, secure, and compliant, we implemented the following repair strategy:

Removal of the Damaged Door:
Our team first removed the aluminum door from its top spindle and transom closer to gain access to the broken bottom pivot, saddle, and shoe. This allowed us to perform a thorough inspection and replace the faulty components.

New Transom Closer Installation:
We replaced the old, malfunctioning transom closer with a new universal NHO transom closer unit, complete with a universal female bracket. The transom closer is essential for controlling the door’s closing speed and ensuring that it automatically closes, which is a requirement for fire safety compliance.

Replacement of the Bottom Pivot Kit: To restore stability and functionality, we installed a new Axim bottom pivot kit, along with multiple new fittings and plugs. The bottom pivot allows the door to swing smoothly and maintain its structural integrity, preventing misalignment and wear over time.

Side Load Drive Arm Installation:
We also installed two new side load drive arms, complete with 4-hole universal brackets and a side load arm fixing pack. These components further reinforced the door’s stability and ensured smooth operation.

After installing all the new components, we reinstated the door onto its transom closer, carefully aligning it to ensure it operated as intended. We then tested the door’s functionality to ensure it met all fire safety regulations.
