Professional Repair
Commercial Door Maintenance and Security Ltd was instructed to attend a Grape Tree Store located in the centre of Plymouth following reports of an aluminium entrance door dragging heavily on the floor.
Prior to attending site, our engineers carried out a thorough initial diagnosis using photographs and videos supplied by the customer, allowing us to accurately assess the fault and prepare the correct parts and tools in advance.
This proactive approach ensured minimal disruption to the store and a swift resolution once on site, particularly important for a busy retail location with constant customer footfall.
Upon arrival, our time-served engineer confirmed that the issue stemmed from a failed and worn floor spring, which was no longer controlling the door correctly and had caused the leaf to drop and scrape along the floor. The door was carefully removed to allow safe access to the floor spring mechanism, preventing further damage to the door, frame, and flooring. The defective unit was replaced with a new, correctly rated floor spring suitable for the weight and usage demands of a commercial aluminium entrance door, restoring proper alignment and controlled movement.
