The Issue:
At Commercial Door Maintenance and Security Ltd, we recently completed a repair job that highlights our dedication to high-quality, reliable commercial door maintenance. In this case, we were called out to fix an aluminium door that had come off its bottom pivot and needed a new transom. Here’s a closer look at how we tackled this repair, the challenges we faced, and the results we achieved for our client.
Initial Assessment and Problem Diagnosis
When we arrived on-site, the first priority was to assess the condition of the aluminium door and identify the root causes of its malfunction. Upon inspection, it was clear that the door’s bottom pivot had become dislodged. Pivots are essential in providing stability and smooth operation for swinging doors. In commercial settings, they face constant use, and with time, they can wear out or even come loose due to the heavy foot traffic they handle.
Additionally, we discovered that the transom – the horizontal bar at the top of the door frame – was worn out and no longer provided adequate support for the door. A damaged or misaligned transom can place undue stress on the entire door system, often affecting both the upper and lower pivots. To ensure long-lasting functionality, we recommended replacing the transom and fixing the bottom pivot.
The Repair Process
Our repair process for this job involved several critical steps:
Securing the Door for Safety
Safety is our top priority in any repair, especially in commercial environments. We temporarily removed the door from its frame to prevent further damage and ensure a safe working environment for both our team and the client’s employees and customers.
