Resolving failed transom closers on a busy retail entrance
Commercial Door Maintenance and Security Ltd was instructed to attend a Grape Tree branch in Tenterden, Kent, following reports that the entrance doors were no longer operating correctly. On inspection, it was identified that the transom closers on both doors had failed, causing poor control of the door movement and creating a risk of further damage if left unresolved. As these components are critical to the safe and controlled operation of commercial entrance doors, immediate remedial action was required to restore proper functionality and maintain a safe environment for customers and staff.
To carry out the repair correctly, both doors were carefully removed to allow full access to the transom assemblies. The failed transom closers were removed and replaced with new, correctly specified units suitable for the weight and usage of the aluminium doors. This process required precise alignment and adjustment to ensure the doors would operate smoothly once reinstated, preventing unnecessary strain on the frame, hinges, and surrounding components.
