Resolving failed transom closers on a busy café entrance
Commercial Door Maintenance and Security Ltd was instructed to attend a Soho Coffee branch in Bristol after issues were reported with the entrance doors. The glass APG doors were no longer operating as intended, with both transom closers having failed and causing a loss of controlled closing action. In a busy café environment where customer flow and safety are essential, it was important to resolve the issue promptly to ensure the entrance remained safe, compliant, and welcoming.
Following a full assessment on site, it was confirmed that both doors would need to be removed to allow the failed transom closers to be accessed and replaced correctly. The doors were carefully taken down to prevent damage to the glass panels and surrounding framework, and the defective transoms were removed. New, correctly specified transom closers were installed, ensuring they were suitable for the weight and usage demands of the glass APG doors and capable of delivering consistent, reliable performance.
