Most lift breakdowns trace back to a short list of culprits, and the doors top it. Landing and car door faults — worn door operators, misaligned skates and rollers, failed interlocks — account for more downtime than any other component, because the controller correctly refuses to move a lift whose doors won’t prove closed and locked.

If your lift carries people, LOLER 1998 requires a thorough examination by a competent person at least every six months (every twelve months for goods-only lifts), and PUWER 1998 requires the lift to be maintained in safe working order in between. The examination itself is usually arranged through your insurer — but the report lands on your desk with a list of defects and timescales, and that is where we come in.
Send us the thorough-examination report and we will quote the remedial work, prioritised by defect category. That closes the loop for the responsible person: examination, repair, evidence of completion.

Yes. If your insurer's or examination body's LOLER report has flagged defects, send us the report and we will quote the remedial repairs. Categorised defects are prioritised by severity.

Yes. Lifts in workplaces fall under LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998, which require them to be maintained in safe working order and thoroughly examined at set intervals — every 6 months for lifts carrying people. Repairs restore the lift to a condition that passes examination.
