What we cover from the Vachette range
Mortice locks: the Axium and similar single-point mortice cases are the most common Vachette product on UK installations. We replace cases on a like-for-like basis using genuine parts or Assa Abloy equivalents.
Multipoint locks: the V5+ and similar multipoint cases appear on continental-spec commercial entrance doors and on some UK office reception doors. We carry compatibles for common V5+ replacements.
Security cylinders: Vachette Radial NT and Radial SI cylinders are the high-security key-control option on Vachette installations. We transfer cylinders during case replacement where the existing keying is to be preserved.
When you see Vachette in the UK
Three patterns. Premium retail and hospitality fitouts where the architect specified European hardware throughout the building. Continental-brand commercial doors (Hormann, Rosenheim, similar) often specify Vachette as part of the integrated hardware package. And legacy installations from the 1990s and early 2000s when Vachette had a stronger UK distribution presence.
For current new-build specifications, Vachette is less common in the UK than dormakaba or Yale. Where it appears, the lock work is usually part of a wider Assa Abloy supplied hardware package.
Common Vachette faults
Cylinder wear on Radial NT — standard key-cycle wear. Cylinder replacement is the fix; we preserve the existing keying where required.
Mortice case binding on the Axium — usually contamination or worn cam mechanism. Replacement of the case is the route when cleaning and lubrication doesn't restore action.
Multipoint mechanism stiffness on V5+ — mechanism-end-of-life on heavy commercial use. Replacement is the standard fix.
Sourcing and stock
Vachette spares come through Assa Abloy UK distribution. Common cylinders (Radial NT, Radial SI), mortice cases (Axium) and multipoint components are stocked or available with same-day shipping. Less-common heritage Vachette parts may need a 2–3 day lead time direct from France through the Assa Abloy supply chain.
