01
Why has my commercial aluminium door dropped?
A dropped aluminium door usually means the bottom pivot, top centre, or transom closer has worn or failed. Heavy use, weather, and age cause the pivot to lose alignment, which puts uneven load on the closer and frame. The fix is to diagnose which component has gone, then replace that part rather than the whole door — replacement is rarely necessary.
02
How much does a commercial aluminium door repair cost?
Costs depend on which components have failed. A bottom pivot or top centre replacement is typically a few hundred pounds including labour. A full transom closer replacement is more. A same-day quote can usually be given from a description and photos — most jobs do not need a separate site visit just to quote.
03
Can a bottom pivot be repaired without replacing the whole door?
Yes, in almost all cases. The bottom pivot is a discrete component bolted into the floor and door bottom rail. We replace the pivot, re-align the door, and re-set the closer speed. The door, frame and glazing stay in place.
04
What causes a top centre on an aluminium door to fail?
Top centres carry the upper load of the door and contain bearings or bushings that wear over time. High-traffic doors, doors that are slammed shut, and doors fitted with closers set too aggressively all accelerate top centre wear. Failure usually shows as the door tilting away from the frame at the top, scraping the floor at the bottom, or refusing to latch.
05
How long does an aluminium door repair take?
A typical bottom pivot or top centre replacement takes 1–3 hours on site. A full transom closer or floor spring replacement can take a half day. We schedule out-of-hours where the door must remain in service during business hours.
