What we install and repair from the Adams Rite range
Hookbolt mortice locks: the 4710 and 4730 hookbolts are the most common units we replace on APG and aluminium-framed commercial doors. The MS1850S deadlock is the parallel specification — same narrow-stile footprint, deadbolt rather than hookbolt. See sticking APG locks for the diagnostic-to-replacement workflow.
Deadlatches: the 4900-series is used where the door needs a latching deadbolt — common on retail back-of-house and office secondary entrances. We carry universal 4900-series replacements.
Electric strikes: the 7400-series adds remote electronic release to a narrow-stile mortice lock without rebuilding the door — the standard retrofit when an access-control upgrade goes in.
Why Adams Rite locks dominate APG entrances
The narrow stile of an APG door (typically 28–30 mm) doesn't accept standard mortice lock cases. Adams Rite designs specifically for this footprint and has done since the 1950s, which makes the brand the default specification for aluminium-framed glass entrances across most of the English-speaking commercial market. Cross-brand fit is unusual because no other manufacturer has the same depth of narrow-stile range.
Common Adams Rite faults
Hookbolt wear on the 4710/4730 — the standard end-of-life failure. Worn hookbolts no longer engage cleanly into the floor keep. Replacement is the fix. See sticking APG locks.
Floor keep misalignment — the keep plate works loose in the floor, the hookbolt arrives at an offset slot. Re-bedding the keep often resolves it without replacing the lock.
Cylinder wear on the MS1850S — replace the cylinder independently of the case.
Electric strike solenoid burn-out on the 7400 — replacement is the fix. We carry common 7400 variants.
