Hold-Open Closer Replacement & Fire Regulation Compliance
The main entrance doors required the replacement of hold-open transom closers that had reached the end of their service life. These closers were critical to daily operation, allowing controlled access while ensuring the doors would release correctly under fire alarm activation. In addition, the inner aluminium door set, which opened outwards only, required upgrading to a fire-regulation-compliant specification. This involved installing appropriate hardware to meet current fire safety standards while maintaining smooth operation and compatibility with the existing door system.

Retro-Fitting Obsolete Transom Hardware

Both door sets were originally fitted with 190s Jackson transom closers — a manufacturer that ceased trading decades ago — making direct replacement impossible. Our engineers carried out a detailed assessment and designed a retrofit solution using modern, compliant transom closers that matched the door geometry and operational requirements. This spurious part replacement required precision adaptation to ensure correct alignment, reliable performance, and a professional finish, all without compromising the integrity or appearance of the aluminium door frames.

Daytime Working with Safety as a Priority
All works were completed during normal operating hours, meaning safety management was paramount throughout the project. Barriers, signage, and controlled work zones were implemented to protect members of the public and staff while allowing the fitness facility to remain fully operational.
