Restoring Safety and Function to a Busy Retail Entrance
When the main entrance doors at the Cash Converters store in Dudley began to fail, the management team contacted Commercial Door Maintenance & Security Ltd for expert assistance. The aluminium double doors, which serve as the store’s primary customer entrance, were no longer closing correctly due to worn-out transom closers. This created both a safety hazard and a security concern, as doors left ajar can compromise access control and customer safety. Understanding the importance of maintaining a fully functional entrance for a high-footfall retail environment, our team responded promptly to assess the problem and carry out a lasting repair solution.
Upon inspection, it became evident that both transom closers had reached the end of their service life. Years of heavy daily use had led to internal wear and hydraulic failure, causing the doors to lose controlled movement and alignment. Our engineers safely removed the aluminium door panels from their pivots to access the overhead transom boxes, where the faulty closers were located. This required precise handling to protect the glass and frame integrity, ensuring no damage occurred during the process. The housings were then cleaned and prepared for the installation of brand-new high-performance transom closers suitable for the weight and frequency of commercial use.
